Street Robbery - without a weapon ARREST
Vredehoek Avenue – Monday, 21:00
While on patrol armed response heard a call for help. On further investigation, it was discovered that a street robbery was taking place. Armed response assisted and managed to detain the suspect. The cell phone of the victim was found in the suspect’s possession and it was returned to the owner. SAPS were dispatched and the suspect was taken into custody.

An alarm activation was received from a premises. On arrival armed response found the gate open. A suspect was apprehended on the property and SAPS took the suspect into custody. The suspect was later released with a warning by SAPS as there were no damages to the property and nothing was stolen.

Victim not quite sure if the vehicle was locked or if it was jammed. Suspects stole a brand new Black & Decker hand vacuum, some electronic cables and some spanners for the spare tyre.

Trespassing – ARREST
Seymour Avenue – Wednesday 01:18
Likely attempted break-in but difficult to confirm intentions. Two males trespassed into garden which was visible on security cameras. Perpetrators noticed either the cameras and/or security beams and left by climbing over spiked fences. Later the same night they stole a laptop from a neighbouring block and were arrested that same night in relation to another break-in attempt.

Complainant left the building trough the main gate with their bicycle but forgot their helmet. Asked someone nearby to keep an eye on their bike while they went inside, but they and the bike were gone upon returning. The suspect left his food and bag – the bag is now with the police.

House Break-in 2
Upper Maynard Street – Tuesday, 08:11
Armed response’s monitoring centre received a call reporting a break in. On arrival they reported the outside side gate lock was cut off by the suspect/s and the front door and security gate were broken to gain access. No alarm signals were received. The safe was standing open with the safe keys in the lock. Cash was taken from the safe and a few boxes of shoes were stolen. SAPS on scene.

Arum Street – Tuesday, 06:00 – 18:00
Break-in happened between 12:00 and 15:00. The burglar bars were kicked in and the house ransacked. Various items were taken including: 2x laptops, Nitendo Switch, 2x TVs, various chargers, diamond rings, necklaces. Watches were also taken.

An intruder gained access into house via a second floor window. A Gaming Laptop and a small tote bag with a picture of a buffalo on it and a Rip Curl wallet inside was taken. A rental vehicle parked outside was also broken into (no damage to the car) the car radio and a pair of climbing shoes were stolen.
