Peak Road – Thursday, between 00:00–06:00
During the night of 30 to 31 March 2022 four garages at a block of flats were broken into. The thieves gained access to the property by breaking down the planter at the entrance and crawling underneath the fence. The locks on the garage doors were broken open. Items stolen included two television sets, a microwave, mirrors and a wine collection.

Pinetree Crescent – Wednesday, approx 06:00
A charcoal Moto Mia motor cycle was stolen. Resident had footage of two suspects leaving the Crescent.
The motor cycle triggered an alert on Saturday 2 April in Table View and one arrest was made.

Pypies Square – Wednesday, approx 04:45
A tall thin man tried to jump over the wall of a property. The next-door neighbour heard him and shouted, scaring him away.

A man stole tools from a builder’s bakkie and ran to Stoompie. The builder chased him and recovered his grinder.

A garage was broken into. No damage to the pedestrian or driveway gates so unclear how access was gained to the property. Tools, a man’s bicycle, Casio keyboard and a brown dog’s bed without the inner, were taken.

Upland Avenue, High Cape – Sunday, approximately 15:30
A resident confronted and wrestled with an intruder in his home. The suspect managed to get away. Armed response attended.

Rugley Road – Friday at 7:30 am
A slim tall male, wearing a dark hoodie and a reflective orange and yellow vest jumped over the gate into a resident’s garden. He was carrying a knife. The residents shouted at him and he jumped back over the fence and ran away.

When resident got into her vehicle in the morning, the car ‘notified’ her that the passenger doors and boot were open. On inspection she noticed some items were missing e.g. a picnic blanket and charging cables. However, other items (beach umbrella, shoes, hat etc.) were not taken. There was no sign of break-in.

Resident parked motorcycle near his garage on the Saturday night. His neighbours heard the sound of a motorcycle between 3 and 4 am. He discovered the motorcycle had been stolen when he went out on Sunday morning.

Attempted Street Robbery

Yeoville Road – Saturday, 22:30
While walking up from the Corner shop (Corner Vredehoek and Upper Buitenkant) 2 men followed in a Cream/White Mini Cooper. The vehicle was originally parked on Flower Street. Followed up behind onto Denholm road and then a person jumped out the car on Bradwell and chased the complainant who ran all the way to his apartment in Seymour Avenue.

A garage broken into between 6:00-7:00am. The suspects then broke into a vehicle and dented the door. Two ladies confronted the men who had a loaded trolley. They had taken tools from the boot and other items.

Male wearing yellow shirt jumped over fence and tried to gain access via front door. Was confronted by residents. He then left the property.

Intruders broke into property. They were in and out in minutes. The security guard scared them away while they were in the apartment. They left in a vehicle.

Outside beam of property was triggered and gate compromised. The suspect had disappeared by the time armed response arrived.

Seymour Avenue – Sunday, 07:30
Resident of a block of flats found a man in the driveway between the vehicles. He said that he was let in by a person not known to residents of the property. When asked, he left without argument. He was carrying a partially filled black rubbish bag. In the evening it was discovered that the padlock fitting on a garage had been forced and storage cupboards rifled through. It is not known if anything was stolen. It appears that the man might have got onto the property approximately 06:20.

Resident noticed someone in a neighbour’s vehicle across the road. The person was then shouted at by the resident. The person claimed that he was just hiding in the car and took nothing. The owner of the vehicle eventually answered her phone and when they came out to assist the perpetrator was gone.

The alarm activated on vehicle at 5.30am. The left front passenger door was slightly open and all 4 windows were open. Appeared as if nothing was taken from vehicle.

A woman returning home was attacked in the street. She screamed and the assailanat ran away.

Two males, well dressed with one being bigger than the other, tried to break into the front gate with a crow bar. Resident saw incident happening and shouted at them. They then ran off.
