A student was pick-pocketed on the pavement and his cell phone was taken. The suspect then also tried to grab the bag and injured the victim on his arm with a screwdriver when he struggled for it. Fortunately residents in the street could assist him and take him home after SAPS was called to the scene. The suspect fled down Barnham Avenue across Philip Kgosana. CCTV footage is available of the suspect in the area a while before the robbery.

The home owner was alerted to the presence of a person in their garage when the alarm was triggered. The suspect had smashed the back gate, broke the garage burglar bars, climbed through razor wire and hammered an alarm box until it broke. He disappeared into the mountain, carrying a yellow pillow case full of the owner’s items. This has been the 4th incident at this property in 2020.

The suspects were arrested.
