Upper Mill Street – Wednesday, 20:45
Four men mugged a woman as she was getting out of her car. Her handbag was stolen.

Upper Mill Street – Saturday, at 21:25
Break-in at block of flats. Tall, dark, masked man broke burglar bars and entered flat via window. Resident woke up, at which point suspect escaped through same window.

Windburg Avenue – Friday, 05:29
Antique copper vessel about 1 metre diameter, 50 cm high, about 25-30 kg stolen by tall, slender man probably in his 20s. Incident was captured on security cameras although alarm wasn’t triggered. Suspect emptied the bowl, lifted it onto/over the wall, and fled on foot in the direction of The Plantation.
Suspect was about 1.75 metres tall. Wore black New Balance sneakers, black jeans and a black and grey jersey. Shaven head and had a ring on his left pinky finger.

CBar received a call reporting attempted break in at garage. It did not appear that anything was stolen.

Street robbery with weapon – ARREST

Freesia Park – Monday, 17:10
Suspect attempted to steal cell phone and cut female victim in the arm in the skirmish. She subsequently gave chase and started screaming to draw attention. A man walking his dog tackled the suspect and a struggle ensued, during which the dog-owner sustained a bad gash on his shoulder but did an amazing job to subdue the suspect. Both victims were stabilized by a medic on the scene before proceeding for further treatment.
Several members and other security role players assisted at the scene.

Suspects used a stick to try and gain access. It broke and they weren’t successful.

House robbery

Pinetree Crescent - Wednesday, at 03:00
Three men entered the house from the mountain side and took smaller valuables such as the cell phones and purses. The house was occupied by a mother and daughter. They threatened the mother with a screwdriver and there was a struggle when the daughter entered. The men fled via the back again. Security and SAPS were quick to arrive at the scene, but the suspects were long gone.

Pypies Square - Wednesday, at 00:30
A man attempted to move a scooter down the stairs, but the owner was alerted to this by his dog. The owner shouted at the suspect from his balcony and by the time he got downstairs the suspect had fled. The owner’s car was parked in front of the gate so it would’ve been near impossible to get the scooter out.

A security light was once again ripped off the wall inside the property. It was the third time in two weeks.

A wooden door panel was ripped off which opened the shop for anyone to enter. There were tools, a ladder and other items in sight. The owners were alerted.

Street Robbery - without a weapon

Peak Road - Wednesday, at 22:02
Minutes after a member posted on the zone 5 crime WhatsApp group (at 21:59), warning others of a suspicious male on Windburg Avenue and giving a description, the man robbed a woman of her cell and ran down Barnham Avenue with the screen still visibly on. The loud screams of the victim attracted the attention of neighbours who attempted to assist.

Business robbery - ARRESTS!!!

Upper Buitenkant/corner Vredehoek Avenue - Tuesday, at 13:20
A man and a woman entered the shop and stole food items. A knife was pulled when they were approached by the shop manager before they left. She took note of the vehicle that they traveled in and reported it on the Zone 3 crime WhatsApp group. From here members took immediate action. A Law Enforcement volunteer immediately notified the Flying Squad as soon as the camera team could identify and pick up the licence plate of the vehicle. Other members and CBAR rushed to the shop. The suspects were apprehended by 13:45 and soon were on their way to Cape Town Central.

A car was parked at 20:20 on 11 December. Passersby noticed items lying outside the car at 06:30 the following morning. A kid’s jumper that was taken was found in Fitzherbert Road.

Clive Street, Thursday, at 20:15
The delivery man from a local restaurant was robbed as he delivered meals to a house. Three youths on skateboards came past and one grabbed the food. They fled across Philip Kgosana Drive where one of the boys was apprehended by a DPV patroller who went searching. The two other boys escaped with the food. SAPS vehicles arrived.

Gardenia Avenue - Thursday, at 16:43
A cell phone was stolen from a woman as she walked from her parked vehicle towards her house. Three men were involved in the robbery. They had slipped through an open gate to enter the property and jumped over the gate to escape, running down Derry Street towards Gardens Centre.

A suspicious male was seen lurking around at the top of High Cape. Once he had left a resident noticed that a set of house keys had been removed from the inside of a private gate. The keys had accidentally been forgotten in the gate.
